Ourcountry firstly builds the Wildlife Park in Shen Zhen in 1993, having established the basis forthe realization of the storming investments on the career of Wildlife Park in everywhere ofChina hereafter. Since then, the government and some private enterprising in south begin tomake investment in building the Wildlife Park with the coordination of the mechanical playingfacilities, so as to attract the mass to entertain and consumption, viewing and admiring the rareand valuable animals of all kinds. Therefore, the zoo also becomes the important naturalecology education space, with the characteristics of entertaining function and intellectuality.However, the available references are too few in terms of "where the location of the zoo shouldbe selected on earth" and "How to appropriately select the position of the zoo". Therefore, thepertinent personnel is dispatched to the three wildlife parks firstly built in Shen Zhen, QinHuangdao and Shang Hai to visit, study and imitate, or to inspect and research in the zoosabroad, and even engaging the foreign experts to help to plan and design. By October, 2005,China has already established nearly 30 wild zoos, this indicates the healthy and fastdevelopment trend in the wild zoo of china, but simultaneously, it also exposes the conspicuousproblems in the construction and development of these wild zoos, such as blind disorder,repetition (imitation) construction, resources waste (including fund, animal, manpower,physical resource and so on), and macroscopic out of control. Therefore, inferior selection about the location will have not manifested a superior plan, design and construction. At present, some Chinese and the overseas zoo garden sites are mostly chosen in themetropolis suburb or the border between the city and countryside. Choosing the location is avery complicated and subtle job, and not all the places can be regarded as the site to constructthe zoo. Generally speaking, the experts, technical personnel and the main policy-maker willbe organized to firstly and repeatedly observe, inspect, analyze, contrast and demonstrate themore exquisite scenic area in natural environment or the region with beautiful mountain andclear water, so as to select the most suitable garden site at last. Therefore, it is very importantand necessary to fully and comprehensively take account of all kinds of elements in terms ofvarious natural conditions, developing conditions and humanity as well as transportation.Considered the factors mentioned above in each aspect, the author conducts the study onadvanced selecting the location of the zoo though the massive research about the references,on-the -spot investigation as well as the consultation to experts, summarizes the appraisalsystem on the selection of the location to the zoo, and unifies it with the practical sample of theselection of the location of Harbin Zoo, hoping to provide some significant reference to theselection of the location of zoos hereafter.
