Study On The Link Design In The Renovation And Extension Of Old Buildings

The thesis concentrates on the design of link, which is one specific issue in the renovation and extension of old buildings.How to deal with the relationship between the old and the new is a basic issue in the field, and corresponsively, this issue is represented by the link, which is located in the center of contradiction. As a matter of fact, the link and the relationship between the old and the new are the outside and the inside of one issue and this thesis focuses on its outside: the design of link, which is served by the discussion on the relationship between the old and the new.Based on the framework, which is composed of three factors of the relationship: context, space and composition on fa?ade, the thesis elaborates the exploration for the formation cause and specific representation of link by plenty of examples, and thus attempts to setup a referenced design method for link design, which is a combined one based on rational thinking and controlled by space relationship. The problems of domestic link design are also discussed in the thesis.The thesis is composed of three parts:The first one, including chapter 2 and 3, explores the cause of formation of the link. chapter 2 focuses on the historical development of link in western country and China in order to look for the cause from the perspective of ideology, while chapter 3 analyzes the decision making influenced by the subjective factors, such as the site and existing building, and the objective factors of the designer, and therefore, answer the question from the perspective of manipulation.The second part is chapter 4, in which a large number of examples are analyzed in detail to provide referenced specific representation methods for practice. Based on the previous analysis, the third part goes to an in-depth discussion on design method, which is inferred from the analysis to the complicated valuation and the trend of pluralism.Finally, the representation rules and design method is used to analyze and evaluate the link design of Hebei museum.
