As a new type opponent used for over-current protection, PTC fuses are small, recoverable—it could be used for many times. As a result, it is widely used in protection circuits of many kinds of products including electronic products, communication products, power supply products etc. After PTC fuses are manufactured, a lot of high-demanding tests must be carried out to ensure their quality. However, theses testing systems used nowadays are made up of several separated testing instruments which makes it impossible to realize the functions such as data sharing, automatic processing and save. Since manual work must be involved to accomplish required tests, the whole system is less automated. Besides, errors caused by testing instrument itself and manual work could hardly be avoided in traditional testing system. Virtual instrument technology provides us new way of solving these problems, which also make it possible for the development of low cost testing system.In this paper, a PTC-AT system based on CVI is introduced, which can measure and analyze these important parameters-- resistor, voltage, current, time to trip showing performance of a fuse. After data measurement and analysis, the system will save the raw data and analysis reports.
