According to the practical project,I carry out my study to design a Signal Exchange Device of a substation,to finish signal exchanges between the Real-Time Digital Simulator of the substation and the Complex automatic system of the Substation. Two aspects are discussed in this paper. One is the hardware design of the device, the other is the software design. The hardware design takes the DSP(Digital Signal Processor) TMS320VC33 as the control center CPU. I design D/A changed circuit,I/O circuit,CAN(Control Area Network) field bus commucation circuit, etc. The device can finish:1. within the artificial step, the device take the 32 digital signals of channels voltage, electric current from the Real-Time Digital Simulator to convert to analog signals by D/A , and output to the Complex Automatic of the Substation.2. within the simulation step, the device take the 32 switch signals from the Real-Time Digital Simulator to output to the Complex Automatic of the Substation , and collect 32 switch signals of the Complex Automatic System of the Substation to transmit to the Real-Time Digital Simulator at the same time .In my design, advanced Complex Program Logic Device(CPLD) is used. This simplified the circuit and improves the response. The emphasis is the procedure that DSP operates. VC33 is a DSP chip with high performance, which has two CPU kernels , it's instruction is high efficiency. The procedure is written with C language, to finish the serial communication of high speed with the Real-Time Digital Simulator mainly, and to process data, output data, collect data within the artificial step.
