Navigation is a vector guiding carriers from a starting point to the destination. Inertial Navigation System (Inertial Navigation System, INS) does not need external information and has highly autonomous character. In order to promote INS's field from the military to civilian areas, it is necessary to design new strapdown inertial navigation system which has low cost, small size and strong performance.This paper presents a strapdown inertial navigation system design. The new high-performance floating-point digital signal processor is used for inertial navigation systems. Meanwhile, FPGA technology is used in the system. In addition, analog-digital conversion method is I/F conversion.Under the system design the author completes gyroflex servo circuit board design, I/F converter circuit boards design and data acquisition and processing circuit boards design. In the Gyroflex servo circuit, a second-order low-pass filter circuit is used to suppress active harmonic interference and to improve the measurement accuracy. In the data acquisition and processing circuit, the multi-channel counters with data cache modules, which is designed by the Verilog Hardware Description Language. It can count at the same time allowing for data retrieval. In addition, the use of the FPGA logic control through rational design of the interface, which makes the timing of different chips in harmony, solves much more difficult issues of DSP chip operation and other external circuits and reduces the difficulty of the software design. When the DSP program code automatically Bootload, Second-Bootloader solves the issue that there are few codes. It in conjunction with inertial test programme and flash read-in programme, make the system automatically process inertial measurement.The paper makes DSP, FPGA technology, and other emerging electronic technologies in inertial navigation system. System test results show that it can meet the need of small size, low cost, strong performance and practical application.
