Spatial Scale Analysis Of The Characteristic Streets

With the acceleration of urbanization and the impact of globalization, the urban characteristics have been disappearing gradually. However, most of the resulting theories on urban characteristics fail to guide the real practice of urban renewal.On purpose of exploring the maintenance of urban characteristics in urban renewal, this paper involves two significant factors. One is the distinctive streets, which specifically represent the urban characteristics. Another one is the spatial scale which is of great importance in urban renewal design process. In this case, this paper specifically analyzes the relations between scale design of street factors and urban characteristics, as well as the reasons, features and measures of the street scale diversification and mergence.Trying to certificate the relationships between the formation of urban image and the design of spatial scale, the conclusion is proposed to guide the renewal of cities, streets and buildings for better urban characteristic maintenance and improvement.
