Urban Streetscape Guideline For Management And Negotiation

The paper did not focus on the aesthetics or design exploration of urban space, but on the method and strategy to establish an effective management language. While the uncertainty of plan, the diversity of interest groups and actors and the limitations of management controls system are ubiquitous in current urban construction in China, guide of streetscape should control the quality of space environment and physical figuration by clear concise policies, standards and design guidelines. Therefore, this work should not only stay in a single engineering activities level, but also transform designers' logic judgment and emotional creation to an effective management language for guiding and enhancing the quality of the urban environment, through in-depth exploration of the management system and investment-building mechanism, and through communication and interaction between the governor and the operator executor.Firstly, the paper has analyze the whole construction background, pack up several theories providing complex multidisciplinary perspective for this paper, and conclude the main problems in the practice of streetscape guide and technical execution in current China.Secondly, the paper has analyzed the main problems of streetscape in China. Under directions of theories in public management, consumerism and production space, the paper has concluded the mechanism causes behind those problems of streetscape.Thirdly, the paper has analyzed the two systems of the objects and the practical mechanisms of streetscape guide. In the analysis on objects, the paper has definitude the emphases of streetscape guiding, provide comprehensive street furniture sets of candidates, and classify the furniture to build a platform for the subsequent analysis.
