Currently,China is coming into the fast urbanization stage.With the development of social economy,the transportation demand increases day by day,and the status of the highway enhances in the synthesis transportation system unceasingly.But there is still very big diaparity between the construction of artery network and the development of fast urbanization,which mainly displays in the unperfect skeleton system,the unclear-divided function,the insufficient first-class highway quantity and the unbalanced region development.This paper attempts to explore the adaptability of artery network during the process of urbanization.Firstly,the pursuer analyzes the development law as well as the characteristics of urbanization.From the three aspects of integration, different urbanized stages and different city-spaces, anatomises the relations between transportation and urbanization.Above this,proposes the idea of artery network level-division, and discusses th function localization and service-objec in various levels.Secondly,defines the adaptability connotation of artery network during the process of urbanization, proposes the estimation models under different levels of urbanization.It sets up the estimation model from two espects of the urbanization level and artery network.And sets up the estimation indexes model from five aspects of the technical performance, society, economy, environment and population.Under the quantitative and qualitative analysis of these indexes,applies the AHP-GRA method to carry on the estimation, also designates the critical values for different compatible degrees, subsequently puts forward the strategy-proposals on the development of artery network in fast urbanization areas.Finally, takes the Artery Network Construnction Plan in Jiangsu Province as example, obtains positive effect.
