With the rapid development of expressway construction in China, the prevention to rear-end collision has been paid close attention to. It is very important to research and develop methods to prevent rear-end collision. Developing the rear-end collision alarm system is one of the efficient methods to decrease rear-end collision accidents on expressway.In this paper ,first dicusses the architecture of the the rear-end collision alarm system.through thoroughly discussion the special environment of highway, establishes under the different travel condition the automobile smallest traffic safety distance mathematical model.by comparing, we choose laser as vehicle radar to detects distance from the obstacles in front of the vehicle.by reserching differert laser emitter,select semiconducter laser emitter to be use in the rear-end collision avoidance system. Discussed the laser receiving technology, selects the APD as receiving component, has designed the laser accepting circuit Has studied the system main noise source, and discussed each disturbance processing method, has designed the signal adjustment electric circuit.Discussed the main time methodes, and aimed at the rear-end collision alarm system to design the system timing circuit. In the end .designed the other electric circuit in the system.In the research, basically established an automotive rear-end collision alarm system . provided theoretical basis and a direction or for future ITS(Intelligent Transportation System) researching.
