Applied Ressearch On Exppressway Service Area In Shandong Province

The planning, design, construction and management of expressway service area (parking area also included hereinafter) covers all the service facilities and all the activities for expressway users at service areas. The main contents involved contain the location, scale, layout, building styles and so on of service area. It also includes the operation and management of service area.At present, the planning, design, construction and management of expressway service area in our county is still at its preliminary stage. The planning concepts and the managing experiences can not keep pace with the rapid development speed of expressway construction.The related planning standards and the management patterns for service area are not detailed and reasonable enough for guiding practice.In this paper,some views are raised about the service facilities on the basis of some informations and some experiences of operation and management in the service area collected and concluded both in China and abroad. Furthermore, It analyses the planning such as location and scale, design such as functional layout of service area. Some managing ideas are also refered. The paper aims to deliver a set of suggestion for the planning, design, operation and management of expressway service area, to prevent some negative issues such as over or less invested from happening, and to promote the suatainable development of expressway construction finally.
