Assessment Of Urban Village Remolding Based On Analytic Hierarchy Process

As the acceleration of urbanization, urban villages have become a very common phenomenon in China. Since the nation is at the early stage of urbanization, the city often develops in the form of expansion in population and city territory. Thus, a lot of rural communities become urban villages, surrounded by urban constructions. However, though urban villages have become a spatial integral part of the city, the administration system of urban villages does not match that of the urban communities.The remolding of urban villages, which involves various factors in economy, society, culture and politics, is such a complicated systematical project that it's almost impossible to touch the elementary problem singly from one perspective.In this thesis, the spatial concentration and dispersion mechanism of urban and rural structure is studied, with analysis on formation and development tread of urban villages from various perspectives. A novel method is also presented based on analytic hierarchy process for assessment of urban village remolding.In order to incorporate the urban villages into the city completely, 4 points must be guaranteed. First of all, the physical form of urban villages shall be urbanized, which is aimed to cease the present construction chaos status and build the village according to the city planning. Second, the economical form of the urban villages shall be urbanized, transforming the rural economy into urban economy. Third, the social administration system shall be urbanized, converting the villager's congress into the community's congress. Forth, the villager's shall be urbanized, which means the villagers shall be changed to be citizens. In 2003, Zhejiang province starts to implement the plan of "1000 villages for demonstration, 10000 villages for regulation", and Hangzhou city also initiate the plan of "100 villages for demonstration, 1000 villages for regulation" correspondingly. Hence, remolding of urban village has been put as an important issue on the agenda. In the future, the urban and the village will be integrative.
