The dissertation is relied on the project of Shandong Province transportation technological foundation Project of The Geological Character of Speedway in Shandong Province and The Research of The Ground Bearing Capacity of Typical Soil. One object is to comprehensive know the geological character of Shandong and . to offer demonstration for the exploitation of Shandong highway decision-making system, and the other object is to establish base for the constitute of code for investigation of geological engineering by use of the research of the silty of the Yellow River Delta.The comprehensive knowledge of the geological character of Shandong is necessary for the design and building of highway, because although the area of Shandong is very small, the geological situation is very complex. It is complex question to confirm the bearing capacity of soil. Although the method of confirmation of the ground bearing capacity of soil is very mature, the ground bearing capacity of soil in engineering is bigger or smaller to induce danger or wasting due to the suppose of method and the difference of geological background. So it is necessary to confirm the ground bearing capacity of soil with pertinency.The paper includes six parts: the first part shows the significance of research, research situation and research course; the second part shows the geological character of Shandong province; the third part shows the partition of Shandogn geology, the range of the familiar soil bearing capacity and the range of the soil physical and mechanical index; the forth part shows the inquire system of Shandong geology base on GIS; the fifth part shows the research of the ground bearing capacity of the Yellow River Delta silty; the sixth part shows the conclusion and lack of this paper.The work of this paper include five steps: the first step is to comprehensively know of the geological character of Shandong by use of the character of landform, the character of stratum lithology, the character of geological construct, the character of groundwater, the character of geological disaster and the character of quaternarydistributing; the second step is to divide Shandong into six research plots base on the character of geological and give the engineering character and stratum histogram of every plot; the third step is to statistic 3957 sample and give the range of the soil ground bearing capacity and the standard value of 9 physical and mechanical index; the forth step is to exploit the inquire system of Shandong geology by use of ARC VIEW and VB; the fifth step is to research the ground bearing capacity of the Yellow River Delta silty by use of plate load test, spire plate load test, flate plate dilatometer test, static cone penetration test, standard penetration test and normal lab test.The conclusion of paper conclude two parts:1. the hand of the Geological Character(1) Shandong conclude six research plots: the hard magma rock plot, the hard sediment rock plot, the plain and riverway alluvium-proluvial plot, the alluvium strand plain plot, the bajada plot and the mountain front sedentary plot.(2) The span of physical and mechanical index is effected by the character of stratum and geological zone. The normal value of physical and mechanical index is not even. The coefficient of variation of synthesis is bigger than the coefficient of laminate. The coefficient of variation is divided into three level: dry density <0.1, moisture content, porosity ratio, liquid limit, plastic limit 0.1~0.5, liquidity factor, pressing factor, cohesive strength and internal friction angle and the character of changeability 0.5-0.9.(3) The span of the typical ground bearing capacity: fill 80-120 kPa, mud silting 80-140 kPa, clay 90-280 kPa, mild clay 80-260 kPa, mild sand clay 80-240 kPa, fine sand 100-200 kPa, silt sand 90-160 kPa, silt 90-190 kPa, medium sand 120-200 kPa, medium coarse sand 150-220 kPa, coarse sand 120-400 kPa, hard decency siltstone 400-500 kPa, hard decency lamprophyre 300-450 kPa, hard decency moorstone 280-1800 kPa, hard decency fine sandstone 240-260 kPa, hard decency cleaving stone 250-300 kPa, feeble decency siltstone 320-450 kPa, feeble decency lamprophyre 450-600 kPa, feeble decency moorstone 600-4200 kPa, feeble decency lime rock 1200-2500 kPa, feeble decency cleaving stone 600-800 kPa,microdecency siltstone 400-500 kPa, microdecency moorstone 1200-5000 kPa, lime rock 2000-3000 kPa.(4) The inquire system of Shandong geology give design and building of engineering a lot of facilitate.2. the hand of the groundbearing capacity of typical soil(1) It is rational to confirm the bearing capacity by use of elasto theoretical formula, but the result is not accurate enough.(2) There is much difference among of the ground bearing capacity by different method.(3) The theme give the empirical formula of conforming ground bearing capacity of static cone penetration test, standard penetration test and normal lab test.
