Polypropylene Fiber Reinforced Concrete (PPFRC), a new composite material with excellent properties, is developed rapidly and applied extensively to civil engineering in recent years. Compared with normal concrete, polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete has advantages in ductility, durability, fracture energy, impact resistance, abrasion, and so on. So, intensive study of the mechanical properties of PPFRC can provide theory foundation for further application of this new material in practical engineering, which has important theory and engineering value. The following research works, including experimental and theoretical aspects, have been carried out in this thesis.1. Through test results comparation, the effect of PPFRC mechanical properties of concrete, such as cube compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, axial compressive strength, static compressive modulus of elasticity, freeze thawing resistance, permeability resisting properties and fracture energy. It can be concluded from the results that the PPF can improve the tensile strength of concrete to some extent, and increase the durability of concrete, such as cracking resistance, freeze thawing resistance and permeability resisting properties of concrete dramatically.2. The reinforcing mechanism of PPFRC is analyzed on the basis of properties of PF and concrete matrix.3. On the basis of above research, the prospects of applying PPFRC to bridge deck pavement are investigated. First, based on investigating the damages of deck pavement, an effect way to improve the durability of deck pavement, through improving the properties of pavement concrete, is proposed. Then, due to the excellent mechanical and physical properties of PFRC, it is found that application of this kind of concrete to practical deck pavement has widespread prospects. Finally, by analyzing the work mechanism of polypropylene fiber and comparing shear stress of interface in the following states (i. e. polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete bridge deck pavement and plain concrete bridge deck pavement) , the application of polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete to bridge deck pavement is feasible and advantageous.
