Study On Protection Of Urban Historical Area

Folklore is so closely connected with our daily life that it controls the way we behavior , the way we think and the way we judge ourselves as well as the outside world. While the definition of folklore varies from people to people, we all admit it is the combination of outer performance and inner spirit. Therefore no matter how the world will change, it will always functions as the basic life rules for us for ever. However, sine the coming of the era of science and technology, many folk-life styles which have performed effectively have lost their roles in our life and disappeared from our line of sight.Like every coin has two sides, while science and technology bring us more effective way of life, they also cause many confusions in our inner world among which the strong desire for self-definition stands out. Then people switch to those traditional folk signs with deep historical and cultural background trying to experience another kind of life feeling which may bring them a moment of peace.From this point, there is an urgent need of protecting traditional life styles especially protecting the inner spirit of life, which becomes the most shining diamond we may share with the history. Since the life spirit can impossibly be deprived from its objective environment, it is very necessary to maintain the authenticity of the historical environment such as buildings, streets, handcraft by various modern technologies.In this dissertation, we will discuss the protection of the life spirit through a detailed discussion of Historical protection zone of Qinghefang, a featured historical zone in a big modern city and see how they try to merge the historical atmosphere into the modern pace of life.
