The thesis can be regarded as the author's response to the present necessitous conditions of the elderly settlement. China is the biggest aging population country, the foreground must be very difficult.Based on the field of Environment and Art design, especially the requirement of the elderly. My work relates to sociology, economics, history and architectonics, raising the points of " A homestead for all one's life" and " garden balcony".The study also involves the characteristics of traditional Chinese family institution and the variance of the elderly settlement pattern. Further more, it use a lot of data from the diagnoses on the habitation and requirement of the elderly. This thesis can form the skeleton of the elderly house design, based on the different family pattern and the characters of aging population, I propose more than 10 modes of the elderly family, I think the observation of this aspect is of great importance for the development of settlements, and it will bring a great of opportunities to the architecture developers.The system of the sciences of aging population settlements environment will be established before long, I am very honored that I can do a little contribution to this theory.
