Facing the challenge of urbanism and motorization, many scholars are aware of that the cities in China may follow the old road of "urban sprawl" in western developed counties if not taking action early,then they focus their eyes in succession on the research on Transit-Oriented Development.The paper attempt to explore the Principles of Transit-Oriented Development based on the fruitful achievements gained by many scholars. Firstly, based on analysis of the relationship among the mobility,accessibility and develop direction,the paper analyses the relationship between land use and transportaion. Ulteriorly,it compares the affection on urban sprawl and land use of Car-Oriented Development with Transit-Oriented Development,drawing the conclusion that it should combine public traffic with urban space extending.Secondly, based on citing the related theories and practice on abroad, the paper analyses a series of principles on Transit-Oriented Development and be beneficial to the comprehension on Transit-Oriented Development.Thirdly, in order to enhance the coordination between land use and public transit planning,the paper put forward that it should combine public transit planning to macroscopic urban structure, mesescopic district land development and microscopic neighbourhood design closely,and lay out public tranis lines and depots in reason.Fothurmore,it recommends many interrelated samples which have positive significance for urban land development in China.Fourthly, based on citing three kinds of strategies on Transit-Oriented Development on abroad,the paper analyses the advantages and lacks on TOD practise in our country,and put forwards to some feasible strategies and suggestion.Finally, the paper gives Wuxi as an example.
