In face of the severe problem on the short of energy sources and land, the dominant role of the high-capacity rail rapid transit has been established on the whole in the future metropolitan transportation system in our country. With the rapid developing of rail transit in our country, more and more attention has been paid to the great influence brought by the rail transit system on the whole urban space. This dissertation first reviews the developing history and tendency of the urban high-capacity rail rapid transit at both home and abroad. Based on that, it mainly analyses the current land-use conditions along the rail-transit lines in such three metropolitans as Guangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai, and it summarizes the existing problems and the causes to them. Based on the influence brought by the rail transit on the urban land-use, and the elementary theory of TOD (Transit Oriented Development) as well, the author has developed several practical land-use modes around the rail transit stations. Considering the familiarity and advantage of investigation, the No.2 Rail Transit Line of Wuhan has been chosen as a case study. With careful investigation on the current conditions, the author puts forward a planning strategy on the land-use along the rail line. The strategy includes several aspects as fostering the main developing axis of urban space, classifying the public centers and regulating the changing tendency of the land-use functions and development density. The author finally offers the land-use modes and planning suggestions relevant to three different stations which are the type of urban station, the type of transit-hinge station and the type of residential station. According to the basic principle of joint development, and the existing organizations of Wuhan as well, some constructive suggestions have been made on the investing and operating mode, the supporting system of the law and the policy, the development corporation and the distribution of responsibilities.
