The routine design method of the dike dam is, which is borrowed the experience of deviser, followed the relative criteria and requests, and set up the engineering instance after making choices of the dam, to carry on the dam arrangement and figure designation. Then it should carry on the seepage analysis inside the dam and the stable calculation of the dam slope. It also needs to check whether to satisfy the norm request of design, then gets a feasible scheme. For obtaining a more economic reasonable project, generally it demands many modifications comparison. It processes in many schemes, requests deviser to carry on workload calculation and painting work. The design period is long and easily makes mistakes. It is necessary to make use of the computer to replace manual to complete variously complex designs work.Base on Windows and using the VC++6.0 and OpenGL, this paper researches and develops dam computer aided design system. This system has the friendly operation interface, operates easily, conveniently and fast etc. as well. It can carry out the several following operations:(1) It can work out the geographic diagram of the dike dam automatically. With the MFCpassing, it reads AutoCAD of data exchange document (DXF). It can create the district geographic diagram of dike dam automatically.(2) Interactive design of the dike dam. With the basic parameters such as the axes of the dike dam, altitude and width of dike top, the slope of up and down of river, altitude and width of the road etc. It can draw up the outline of the dike dams and the intersecting line of the dam and terrain immediately.(3) The cross section is automatically born. It can bear automatically what customer need horizontal, longitudinal section diagram.(4) The sketch transformation operation. It can carry on to the bom sketch move, revolve, zoom in & out operations etc.(5) Query function. It can search the intersection point coordinates of up, the downstream specifies altitude and terrain contour.This paper designs a dike computer aided system, this system is a universal dike dam design system. It can design the dike dam with this system if there is the basic data of a certainof engineering. It can extricate the deviser from the heavy calculation analysis work. A great deal of number calculation, logic judgment and painting work completed by the computer, raising the work efficiency greatly, shortening the design period, raising the design quality, speeding the project schedule, satisfying the engineering bid and the demand what engineering design needs.
