Collision safety of bus has been paid much attention in recent years, roll-over collision is one of the highest casualty ratio condition in traffic accidents. Nowadays, obliged regulations on collision safety of bus has not been carried out in China, of course, experiments about roll-over collision have not been done. Recently, the government has begun to draft out the regulation about upside structure strength of bus referring to ECE R66, and the execution of this regulation will greatly reduce the casualty.Because there are no standard regulations, at present analysis about bus chassis is limited to static condition, and before now there are no literatures published. In this paper, simulation analysis of roll-over collision has been done on the frame of certain kind of civil manufactured bus according to ECE R66 in this paper. Based on simulation results, the design of bus frames has been optimized, the optimized one can meet the requirements of collision safety. The research work mainly includes:1) Static analysis: checking strength and rigidness of the frame under the three typical working conditions, and finding the fragile part of the structure, and providing the criterion for design.2) Modal analysis: analyzing natural frequency and vibration mode, and proving that natural frequency avoids the main exciting frequency and meets design requirements, and verify the modal by use of analogy method.3) Roll-over collision analysis: simulation calculations of the frame are carried out referring to ECE R66, then improved design based on analysis results, satisfying the ECE R66 to the full extent.4) According to the data of a typical traffic accident that happened recently, the process of roll-over collision is simulated, the structure is improved based on simulation results.
