As a late-model impermeable material, composite geomembrane has been applied extensively to many high dams and it has a increasing tendency substituting for traditional clay core or clay slope wall in dam construction field. However, in result of it is still at preliminary stage in theory and application, composite geomembrane was used mainly on low or middle embankment dams instead of high dams. Therefore, this paper was conducted to deal with the problem involving in impervious body of high earth-rock dam using composite geomembrane and some achievements was avai lable.By analyzing application example of impervious body using composite geomembrane in high earth-rock dams and the example analyses of aging and anti-seepage effect, the conclusion that composite geomembrane can be used as anti-seepage material of high embankment dams is obtained. Seepage calculation model considering orthotropy of composite geomembrane was put forward in the paper according to the foundmental theory of seepage computation and seepage mechanism of composite geomembrane. By analyzing deformation principle of composite geomembrane, Dancan -Chang hyperbola model was used to simulate its stress-stain relationship and the method how to acquire related parameters was presented. Based on above-mentioned seepage calculation model and constitutive model of composite geomembrane, a exclusive software system was developed for seepage and stress-strain analyses of high embankmentdam using composite geomembrane, it is not only applicable to high earth-rock dam seepage prevention using composite geomembrane, but also to normal earth-rock dam with traditional anti-seepage material. Pretreatmentand, calculation and post-processing procedure of seepage and stress-strain analyses on high earth-rock dam are realized having interface, also the result is seriate and intuitionistic. Finally, taking a high earth-rock dam for example, seepage and stress-stain finite element analyses in accordance with three different seepage preventing schemes are carried on using the software system, some conclusions are drawn comparing and analyzing anti-seepage effect of three different seepage preventing schemes and character of stress-strain. The research method and result in this paper give a important reference to similar projects and have application value to practical projects.
