The Study On The Facilities For The Aged In Urban Residential Area

All the cities in China are faced with the problem of population aging now, and in order to meet the needs of White Tide and rapid increasing of urban aged population of our country, there is no time to delay for improving the conditions of habitation of elderly.My research is about the facilities for the aged in urban residential area, one of the sub-topics of the major topic of "Tenth Five Year Plan" of the state,The Research on Planning and Design of Urban Residential Area and Environment which is taken charge of by the research group of the China City Planning and Research Institute with the participation of the Haerbin Industrial University, the Beijing Industrial University and the Chongqing University. This thesis deals with the research of the facilities for the aged. Firstly, this thesis introduces the research background of the facilities for the aged in urban residential area, sets forth living environment of the elderly and concept concerned, indicates the tendency and characteristics of population aging of our country, and then on the bases of research on physiological, psychological and behavior features and needs of the elderly, analyzes efforts of improvement of the facilities for the aged of communities abroad. After that, the author applies his research results of urban living quarter planning and practical investigation information on the research of the present situation and problems of relevant policies, system formation, facilities building and detailed environment design etc. of the facilities for the aged in urban residential area, and by means of practical example analysis puts forth thinking and countermeasures on the development and construction of the facilities for the aged in urban residential area.The facilities for the aged in urban residential area are improved not only by outside substantial conditions but also by many interacting factors. In view of the existing residential problems of the facilities for the elderly in the cities, the aim of the paper is to research how to improve the facilities for the aged in urban residential area, and putting forward to the essential thinking and method. At the same time, the author also hope the probe will be helpful to the development and construction of facilities for the aged in urban residential area of our country in the future.
