Releasing steam heat from the mass concrete structures while solidifying leads to produce the temperature change and contraction. They cause the corresponding stresses which are the main factors to from crack in the mass concrete structures. It is obvious for crack to destroy the completeness, anti-water and water-tolerant behavior of the structures and to become a hidden peril of the structures. Thus, crack control must be considered while a mass concrete structure is in construction.In order to seek the fundamentals of crack in mass concrete structures and provide a specifications for practical engineering, this paper maining focus on the sub grade, writing the proof-test system of calculating thermal stress, the action that the temperature play, the reason that make gap caused by temperature effect, the damage made by the gap, and the control means of the gap in mass concrete are analysed. So, the selection for the index of each kind of heat in mass concrete. This test combines the temperature control of the base slab of big bridge in Yangtze River of BaDong, study and analyze the regulation for changing of internal temperature field and stress of mass concrete and the measure's actual result of thermal control that adopt hi the engineering. Then analysis the project of temperature control and data analysis at the base slab of big bridge in Yangtze River of BaDong, compare from the concrete's original material, match, studying temperature stress, cracking reason and the measure of crack control. Then analysis the testing data at the base slab of big bridge in Yangtze River of BaDong comparing with calculating result. By means of this, conclude the principle of temperature field and thermal stress, summarize the effect of different crack control measures, propound some useful suggestions for worksite, show the direction for further more investigation at last.
