Excitation setting is one of the important control devices for hydraulic turbine generator unit. Its performance is a key factor which impact directly on the safety and stability running of the unit itself and power system. The augment of excitation setting' s control performance is fairly important to improve the static, transient and dynamic stability of power system, and enhance the setting' s utilization rating of the hydraulic turbine generator unit. This paper aims at the behind status in quo of excitation setting in AN_KANG hydropower plant, analyzes and talks about its question thoroughly, and presents the necessarily of the old excitation setting' s alteration. The old excitation setting in an_kang hydro power plant restricts the development of the microcomputer regulator of speed, microcomputer protection and the computer supervisor and control that has altered, has become a bottleneck in improving the level of automation in power plant. Based on a large number of investigations and analysis of excitation settings and their performance in homeland, this paper presents a better project, which adapts to the alteration of excitation system in an_kang hydropower plant-excitation system on double microcomputer. The implementation of new project will fairly play a important role in regulating peak and frequency in northwest power system.In order to make the full use of the facility to maintain the machine rotating system, the alternative excitation setting, which remains by altering the excitation setting, is changed into subsidiary generator running on the same shaft.And it can enhance the work capacity of the whole unit. This paper give the detailed calculations in structure parameter of subsidiary generator, the vibration arises by datromagnetism harmonic wave and intensity of thrust bearing. This paper also gives the analysis and researches the possible operating scheme in main generator and subsidiary generator. The subsidiary generator output depends on the load of power system when the main generator and subsidiary generator operating in separate power system . It not only has electromagnetism but also has mechanism conduction as the main generator and accessory generator operating in the same power system. When the generator excitation has been changed, the reactive power could be variation and the active power could be rebuild in the main generator and subsidiary generator. The vibration of magnetism pole center in main and subsidiary generator could be deduced to the different order when the generator put into power system.
