Research On The Spatial Renewal Of Urban Wharf Industrial District Based On The Thought Of Integration

Wharf industrial district is one of the important history sites in the city. Along with the global industrial restructuring and the development of modern transportation, many wharf industrial districts facing the functional decline, especially, industrial buildings and wharf to be idle or abandoned. These wharf industrial district which need to be updated have a historical significance certainly, and because, as the industrial, warehousing and transportation purposes as having intrinsic characteristics in the industrial era: single land use, land division seriously, within in a closed space etc. It is contraried to the trend of the diverse and complex modern city development. It not only caused a waste of land and space resources, nor took advantage of the Waterfront, and appeared the phenomenon that isolated with the urban systems increasingly. In recent years, the waterfront cities have renewed wharf industrial districts in China, but, there is no fundamental solution to urban segregation. It has important practical significance to research the space renewal of the wharf industrial district and re-integrate into the urban system, in which, we advocate sustainable development and emphasis on humanities care increasingly today.It has practical significance in the application of the Integrated thinking that the city system as integrated features and the urban organic updated as the development direction. Integration is make adjustment to separate of urban form's elements and the conflict of new and old environment in the process of urban development. Integrated thinking emphasizes on reconstruct spatial order and optimize the combination of the elements of space to make the system of city to reach balance efficiently and orderly through establishing the links between elements of urban space. It include two meanings that the applications of integrated thinking at the space renew of wharf industrial district: as a means of spatial renewal, strengthening the functions or space links between elements; as the goal of spatial renewal, making the wharf industrial district re-integrated into the city system, to achieve the integration effect of "whole is greater than the parts ". On the basis of reviewing the developments and analyzing the status of the renewal to the wharf industrial district, demonstrating the significance of the integrated thinking applied, the thesis proposed the integration goals to promote economic development, consolidate urban memory and maintain the ecological environment, and the integration principles of integrity, diversity, accessibility and continuity, and the integration categories of function and form, as the elements of space for the integration object. The thesis applied the integration theory into the process of the wharf industrial renewal, and analyzed the practice at home and abroad, and the problems of the wharf industrial renewal in our country, and then proposed the function integrated styles, such as development of coastal land, community functions complementary and complex development of diverse functions, the connection of transport system, the public space links, decomposition the building surface, the integration of building complex, and the form of workplace transformation. The thesis proposed integration strategies for across scattered and the centralized wharf industrial districts, which are two types of spatial distribution for the wharf industrial districts.
