The housing problem has always been our big problem. AtPresent,our country has already entered the accelerating stage of urbanization,and China has been the shortage of resources and energy challenges, which include the increasingly tense urban construction land, coupled with the increasingly rapid growth of population led to environmental degradation, housing problems and other issues. Land resources are scarcer to mountainous areas which are two thirds of our land. In order to meet the increasing housing demand,how to use the limited land to construct housing and at the same time ensure the quality of living environment,change the use of the land extensive but inefficient ahd land waste. The study can be said on this issue is a pressing need.This paper selected mountain area residential district for study to explore the ways of fixing core indicators in construction of mountain settlements,and want to achieve the living environment of mountain settlements and land use intensive simultaneously. Paper first reviews of foreign and domestic on the theory of land development, such as "New Urbanism", "Compact City", describes the mountain as well as the city's construction practice at home and abroad on the sunshine spacing and land targets related theories, and the related concept of the resolution.Then, the paper analyzes the mountainous terrain for urban construction, settlement planning and sunshine spacing effects. From the important feature of mountain areas—slope and aspect,the paper analyse how slope and aspect influence sunshine spacing, as well as the impact of the relationship between the core indicators.In the above analysis, based on the computer simulation of designing different slope aspect of the the typical unit settlements, calculate the value of different indicators of slope aspect to explore the determine ways of mountain settlements sunshine spacing and core indicators.Summing up the different slope of the pitch conversion, discount the value of the core indicators including floor area ratio, building density and the different slope of the green rate index. In the last part of this paper, analysis method was applied to practice in Xian Fengxian regulatory planning of Hubei Province.Select the actual block, the core indicators of the land identified for analysis to verify the paper's findings. And through analyse examples to illustrate the method of concrete application in practice. Looking forword this to ensure quality of the environment, while improving land utilization in the mountains building settlements.
