Mountain density is an important part of the city residential areas, and hasspecial important strategic position. Due to the special landform, the mountainresidential area is determined to have rich natural style and ecological pattern.Because of lacking of the fully understanding for environment of mountainresidential area and the systematic theory guidance of mountain density, theconstruction of mountain settlements is difficult to well adapt to therequirement of the environment of mountain density in thousands of postures,leading to the constructive destruction or destructive construction, and makesthe original distinct personality and the charm of residential place of mountainresidential area gradually disappear. At present, the research on the mountainresidential planning and construction is aroused more and more attention andconsideration of the academia and planning builders, at the same time, thetheory research and practice exploration on adaptability of mountain densityis also turned on the issue of the academic thinking and planning constructionurgently and formally, and it is become the focus of the society from all walksof life.For that reason, firstly the article clarifies the necessity on researchingmountain residential area from the perspective of adaptability throughsummarizing the structural framework research of mountain density and thepresent situation, trend and insufficient of modern mountain residential area,extracting characteristic element of the hill country for unique naturalgeographical environment of mountain, such as the elevation, slope and slopeaspect, etc. The article sums up theory and method on adaptability ofmountain density through referencing from important urban planning theoryand residential construction theory of predecessors, and the successfulexperience on adaptability of domestic and foreign settlements. Besides,aiming at specific region(Minnan area) and starting from the angle of architecture and city planning the article discusses the characteristic ofmountain density that is well adapted in Minnan area from both the physicalenvironment and Intangible environment on geographical climate andregional humanity in Minnan area. Then it analyzes the common problem incurrent situation of construction and design, proposing several principles andmethods on adaptability of mountain density based on this foundation, andputs forward The specific design of adaptability that is the focus of the text.
