With the development of automotive industry and the transportation, the rapid of vehicle maintain increasingly, the imbalance of automotive and road seriously, the phenomenon of traffic congestion is increasingly severe. Meanwhile, due to ill-managed transportation and traffic participants careless, accidents occur frequently and traffic congestion and vehicle losses caused by accidents are going to get worse. When the queue of vehicles caused by the incident bottleneck accumulate eventually, if queuing vehicles expand to the upstream intersection and lead to a chain reaction, it result in a large traffic jams. Therefore, paper research on influence scope and propagation mechanism of urban road traffic accidents, establish model used to described the change of traffic flow characteristics and propagation process, and analyze the relation between traffic accident and the factors of traffic system. It not only provides effective methods for controlling traffic accident influence, but also reduces the scope of urban road traffic accident and traffic accidents free. Besides, it can avoid the loss of road vehicles and protect personal and property security as soon as possible. It is of great practical significance.This paper mainly relied on the Project National Natural Science Foundation "Research on The Spread of Urban Congestion Road Accident Influence base on Energy Release Thesis". This paper mainly research influence scope and propagation mechanism of urban road traffic accidents. It is divided into five chapters, Chapter 3, Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 is the core of the thesis. The main contents of this paper are summarized below.1st chapter introduced the research background, purpose and significance of this text. Also this paper reviewed and summarized the research results home and abroad, defined the content and direction of the paper, established a framework for this paper, thus giving a foundation for following study.2nd chapter defined the meaning of researching object of traffic accidents influence on urban road, according to the basic conception. Besides, it analyzed the causes and property of urban road congestion, as well as the impact of traffic accidents. The paper defined the scope of the study, which mainly research the delay of time and space caused by traffic accidents on urban road, thus more clearly understood the research object and key issues to be resolved.3rd chapter firstly determined the indicators used for evaluating the influence scope and extent of urban road traffic accidents, such as average travel time, average total cycle delay, queue length and vehicle speed. Secondly, this paper analyzed the related factors about restricting the influence of accidents from traffic accidents and traffic system, which think about the duration of traffic accidents, traffic volume and road capacity. On this basis, this paper constructed cell transmission model for researching influence of urban road traffic accident, combining with traffic flow theory and the cellular automata theory. It verified the reliability of the model through the example of Changchun Municipal People's Avenue. The results show that the errors of the queue length, traffic recovery time and travel time are to meet the requirements, indicating that the simulation model results is reliable.4th chapter is the core section of the paper. It analyzed the role in the influence traffic accident through the single factor replacement, which is the traffic volume, delays caused by traffic accidents and the situation of the vehicle lane. Among them, traffic volume and vehicle lane not only affect the average travel time, average total delay and queue length, also affect the vehicle speed. What's more, the duration of traffic accidents is the main factors to determine the put-off time. Simultaneously, the paper analyzed the traffic accident influence on urban roads, urban congested roads and intersections and the diffusion process.5th chapter summarized the propagation of traffic accident influence, which based on the simulation of traffic accident influence and dissemination. Reference traffic wave from traffic flow theory, it described the influence propagation mechanism of traffic accident. The transmission of accident influence diffused along the opposite direction from traffic accidents to the traffic upstream flow by the medium of traffic flow.6th chapter gave a summary of the full text and put forward the issues to be further explored:1. The paper could not determine the accident influence threshold and the internal relationship among traffic accidents, the duration of traffic accidents, traffic volume and the road capacity, because of the limitation of the conditions and number of traffic accident on urban road.2. For signalized intersections, it should be distinguished between parking control and traffic control on the accident influence. So it is needed to be further studied because data collection was based on the cycle of signal timing.3. Due to the study conditions, the paper only made theoretical research on influence scope and propagation mechanism under the intervention of the traffic management and control, so that it needs to be verified by experiment data.
