Traffic flow on highway is huge. Once accident occurs, an obstruction to traffic will be caused, which results in squeeze. These can bring huge losses to the society; therefore studies of traffic accident are very important. The analysis of accident impact is an important aspect of highway systematic analysis, which is the foundation of effective traffic control, accident fast handling and the traffic guidance. It is most significant to improve the traffic handling efficiency and construct road traffic safeguard system as well.The research bases on National High Technology Research and Development Program——863 Program named An Analysis and Control on the Spread of Highway Traffic Accident Influence on Road Network. And the research makes special studies on the key technology of the analysis of highway traffic accident effect including the Spread of Highway Traffic Accident Effect,the Spread of Highway Traffic Accident Effect on Road Network and Determination of Highway Capacity after Traffic Accident, which provide the theoretical and technological support for Emergency Traffic Organization on highway after traffic accident.As a threshold matter, on the basis of traffic wave theory, the paper establishes highway traffic accident and intervening traffic-flow wave linear model, which settles a foundation for the following. Secondly, applying the previous model, the paper establishes arithmetic on traffic accident impact scope on basic highway section,the model on impact of the upper interchange ramp resulting from traffic accident on basic expressway section,the model of traffic accident on highway interchange. And then the paper establishes arithmetic on highway traffic accident direct impact scope,indirect impact scope,intervening impact scope on road network, as well as method to determine the extent of highway traffic accidents, to determine the necessary for emergency traffic organization or traffic organization whether it is reasonable. Finally, the highway traffic accident influence scope is studied base on the case study of XiBao highway.
