The research started in the late 2008 when author participated in Jinan Relic's Preservation Planning.The purpose of preservation planning is to preserve the authenticity and the integrity of the cultural heritages. Thus, during the process of the preservation planning, collecting the information of the heritages and evaluating them are important. They are the basis of the preservation planning. Without them, other parts in preservation planning, such as the constitution of the heritages, the area of the heritages and the preservation measures are impossible to be discussed.Based on the research of Jinan Relic, with archaeological results and other current researches relative to Chu's capitals, this thesis tries to discover the overall development of Chu's capitals during the whole Eastern Zhou Dynasty. On the basis of the understanding of it, the thesis selects three typical capitals of Chu in Eastern Zhou Dynasty and researches on their overall system. In the research, the author concludes the features of the three capitals, involving location selecting, scale, population, layout, transportation, city defense, and so on. The thesis is trying to understand the overall system of each typical Chu capital in a comprehensive way.Besides, the thesis wishes to research the capitals according to the development of Chu with time changed. The thesis intents to discover the common features existing in the development of Chu's capitals in Eastern Zhou Dynasty, the process of their evolution, and the factors that cause the common features and the evolution.
