Island tourism as a unique and attractive compound tourism product is becoming more and more popular by the general public, and more and more islands have become the hottest tourism spots in the world. With Shengsi Islands as the study area, that is the sole national island scenic area, tourism resources of Shengsi Islands are classified and evaluated by on-the-spot visit and questionnaire survey. Impacts of tourism activities are discussed by the means of field surveying, sample collecting and lab analyzing, and on the basis of this, impact on local land use / cover change caused by tourism is revealed through remote sensing image analysis. It is concluded that:(1) According to the"Tourism Resources, Survey and Evaluation"formulated by National Standardization Committee in 2003, tourism resources of Shengsi Islands are divided into 7 main categories, 17 sub-categories and 40 basic types. Judging from the qualitative evaluation in tourism resources, in aspect of the value of tourism resources, tourism resources of Shengsi Islands have better qualities, different kinds, bright island features, strong native characteristics and great development potential. In the development conditions.there are Superior location, vast market, rich natural resources such as climate, aquatic products, ores, ports and so on,howevwe, transportation and infrastructure need to be improved, the construction of the East China Sea Bridge and Yangshan Port provide a good external Investment Environment for development of tourism resources in Shengsi islands. After the quantitative evaluation of tourism resources,it is found that tourism resources of Shengsi Island are at a high level with the score of 69.50 which have good resource and travel conditions, as well as accommodation, infrastructure and management services remain to be improved.(2)The Water quality in Nanchangtu beach and Beichaoyang Sea-fishing area is classâ…¡,and that in Jihu beach is between classâ…¡andâ…¢,Overall, the water quality in Sijiao Island is in good condition. The correlation of the water quality index is relatively stable, but compared to normal times, the relevance of water quality indicators reduces in weekend. This may be related with sharp increase in pollutants breaking the marine environment homeostasis.Impact of tourism on the islands shows significant period changes, to some extent, water quality is negatively correlated with the numbers of tourists and the intensity of tourism activities.(3) Different types of island tourism activities will bring different impacts on the marine environment, It is revealed by the data that: COD, DO and TN of the water can be very easily changed by the activities of swimming. Tur can be changed easily by dynamic leisure activities like some equipment movements such asJet skiing and bicycle, and compared to other activities, TP can be changed relatively easily by sea fishing activities. In addition, the dedicated sewage pipes of Catering, accommodation services, solid waste and waste removal and transportation leave the beach at close range. There is a directly energy exchange with the seawater and it will bring certain effect to water pollution.(4) The development of tourism directly or indirectly affects the land use / cover change of study area.On the one hand, tourism is the primary causethat makes shoal land convert to other types of land;on the other hand, the development of tourism will lead to development of other industries like catering, accommodation industry, commerce, transportation and real estate, etc. that contributes to the adjustment of industrial structure thus affects the pattern change of land use / cover in Shengsi Islands. It is also found that besides factors of economic, demographic and policy, the development of tourism is also an indispensable driving forces .
