Activated carbon fiber (ACF), as a new type of high performance adsorbents, is widely used for environmental technologies, especially in flue gas clear up. The influence factors of ACF for SO2 removal (for example, precursor, preparation condition and surface physical and chemical properties of ACF) were reviewed, and the mechanism of SO2 removal by ACF was discussed. V2O5-ACF was studied stressly. Based on the analysis of the preliminary conclusion, we ensured that the appropriate solution was mixed solution of 1.97%NH4VO3 and 0.68%CsVO3 and 6 hours each time (for 3 times) .Moreover, the best roasted condition was the temperature of 250℃for 50 minuters. Regarding simulation flue gas in the laboratory as the research object, the disquisition had examined the relationship between desulfurization and time, response temperature, and density of charge-in of SO2. The experimental results showed: ①At the initial stage of recation in desulphurization (t≤50min), the removal rate of SO2 was obviously reduced with reaction time; 50 minutes later, the reaction reached a balance state and the temperature had nothing to do with the rate of removal of SO2. ②Reaction temperature have a great influence on desulphurization rate. The best desulphurization temperature is 376K. ③T he desulphurization rate had the index relation with the density of charge-in of the sulfur dioxide. During the experiment, we also compared the treatment of flue gase by V2O5-Cs2O-ACF with KI-ACF and blank-ACF. We designed the basic oprating conditions of the desulphurization in the single factor experiments: CSO2in= 0.225mol/m3,empty speed = 24000Nm3/ (tACF·h ), T= 348K. The results indicated : KI -ACF > V2O5 -Cs2O -ACF > 空白-ACF Through the alteration of the concentration of SO2 and O2, the dynamics were studied. The correlativity of the reactiom time and the removal rate of SO2 was analyzed and a simplified mechanistic model for the desulphurization was derived.
