With the swift growth of economy and advance in living standard, motorization in cities is blowing out, and it brings more traffic jams. However, with the worse situation of traffic, cities are yielding to the motorization although they are trying their efforts to build as much roads as possible. As a result, the traffic condition still becomes worse. TGS (Traffic Guide System) as an important part of ITS (Intelligent Transportation System), is more and more concerned by researchers all over the world. In TGS, publishing traffic guide information is an important part of it, together with traffic data collection and data analysis. It includes publishing real-time traffic information and predicted information. With the development of Internet in China, publishing traffic information via Internet is meant to be.Based on the evolution of WebGIS architecture and relevant technologies, this paper analyzes the architecture suitable of TGS, studies the data organization of traffic information, makes requirements analysis, and gives a schema to add WebGIS to existed TGS via open source tools to publish traffic information. The system is realized by OpenGIS tools and is based on web application solution of flyweight J2EE. It contains GeoServer as map server, PostgreSQL as DBMS, HTML and JavaScript as web pages and runs on Apache Tomcat or JBoss with a structure of B/S. And it publishes the traffic information in TGS with geographical data of main road in Beijing and simulated traffic data. This system makes full use of TGS data analysis, gives a direct and clear way to deliver traffic information to the public with the wide spread of Internet, and provides easy traffic information service to the public and relevant departments. This system is minimally invasive and easy to be deployed to the existed TGS, and it runs independently. It is a valuable reference both in theory and in practice.
