Study On The Umbelliferae Flora And Plant Diversity Of Hunan, China

Based on the specimens that collected from Hunan and the literature pubilished about Umbelliferae of Hunan, the checklist of Umbelliferae in Hunan is given. According to Wu and Wang's areal-types of seed plants, distribution types of all Umbelliferae species in this region are classified and taken into statistical analysis to find the characters of this region. The distribution features of Umbelliferae in Hunan province is found based on geographic distribution. And the relationship of flora between Hunan and adjacent provinces by using similarity coefficient and richness index analysis is given. The results are summarized as follows:1.26 genera and 73 species of the family Umbelliferae are recognized in Hunan province, and localities, habitats and specimens cite are given. Genera containing 5 species or more are considered as dominant genera. Pternopetalum Franch. is topping the 6 preponderant genera with 10 species, followed by Hydrocotyle L., Oenanthe L. and Angelica L. The dominant genera containing 38 species represent 52.1% of Umbelliferae species in Hunan. 2. The checklist includes 6 new records in Hunan, Bupleurum longiradiatum Turcz., Pternopetalum vulgare (Dunn) Hand:-Mazz. var. strigosum Shan et Pu, Pternopetalum tanakae (Franch. et Sav.) Hand.-Mazz., Angelica polymorpha Maxim., Peucedanum longshengense Shan et Sheh, Heracleum acuminatum Franch., belonged to 5 genera (Bupleurum L., Pternopetalum Franch., Angelica L., Peucedanum L., Heraclem L.).3. According to Wu and Wang's areal-types of seed plants, 12 or 13 areal-types of Umbelliferae genera or species in Hunan are first proposed, based on the geographical distribution throughout the world of all species of Umbelliferae in Hunan. The temperate areal-types represent over 90%. The temperate areal-types dominate the Hunan Umbelliferae flora.4. On the horizontal distribution, according to Wu' s floristic plant geography and Qi Cheng-jing's characters of Hunan flora, the geographic distribution ranges of Umbelliferae in Hunan are divided into 5 regions. The center of modern distribution of Umbelliferae in Hunan is the northwest and the southwest of Hunan, the species (69 species) of this region represent 94.5% of entire species. On the vertical distribution, according to the distribution of Umbelliferae,3 scopes are divided, altitude ranged from 700 m to 1500 m has the richest species. The species (51 species) in this scope represent 69.7%.5. The Umbelliferae flora of Hunan seems related to the adjacent provinces, while all carried their own characters. The influence caused by different area covers is decreased by the richness index. And the indice of Hunan (-0.30032) ranks seventh among the 15 provinces. There are higher floristic similarity between Hunan and Jiangxi, Guizhou and Hubei.
