Digital process of city or region is gradually accelerated since the concept of the "Digital Earth" has been proposed, and pipe network, as the lifeblood of the city or region, is an important aspect to achieve the digitization. All kinds of pipe networks are important guarantee for modernization run high efficiency and quality in the cities or regions. It is becoming a necessary to realize integrated management of urban pipe network. Both the rapid development of computer technology and the mature theory and technology of Geographic Information System (GIS) make pipe network information system possible. The editing model which can direct operate on data is the rudimentary and most commonly used in this Pipe Network Information System. This paper will focus on building a powerful, rich in contents, easy to use pipe network information system editor module. Using ArcSDE as spatial data Engine, SQL Server 2005 as a relational database and Visual Studio 2005 as development environments, developed a pipe information system framework for a steel company, and realized editing model in this framework. This editing model in Pipe Network Information System can do a variety of editing operations, such as add feature, modify feature, delete feature, modify attribute, copy feature, merge feature, draw parallel lines, draw perpendicular lines, add Z value, rotate, copy parallel, mirror, extend, undo, redo, and so on.This paper introduces the key technology called ArcGIS Engine components in detail. It makes the editing model have more perfect functions and friendly interface with the basic function provided by ArcGIS Engine components. This article also state the design method, the process of realizing the editing model, and how to make the system operate independently without ArcGIS platform, and demonstrates the operational process of functions.
