On the basis of collecting data of wild edible plant resources, analyzing and summarizing their compositions, edible parts and methods, database of wild edible plant resources in Inner Mongolia is established by means of Access 2007 and Visual Studio 2008.There are 388 wild edible plants in Inner Mongolia, which include 368 species, 3 subspecies, 16 varieties, 1 form and belong to 73 families, 213 genera. As for the families, Compositae own the most species, Liliaceae and Rosaceae lie in the second place. As far as the genera concerned, Allium has the most species, Taraxacum and Artemisia follow behind, occupying 11.60% of the number of all plant species; Referring the life form, herbage is dominant and occupies 79.12% of the total plants; Edible parts of plants involve the root, stem, leaf, flower and fruit; Wild edible plants in Inner Mongolia can be classified into nine types, which are used for grains, vegetables, fruits and dried fruits, condiments, tea, edible-oil plants, sugary plants, glue-manufacturing plants and chewing materials; The conventional wild edible plants of Mongolian contain 119 species, 2 subspecies, 4 varieties and 1 form, belonging to 31 families and 76 genera and occupying 32.47% of all wild edible plant species researched.Owing to database established by Access 2007, the information of wild edible plant resources of Inner Mongolia is input depending on the design requirement. In addition, the information of plant resources is sorted by families, according to the taxonomic system of Zheng Wanchun and Engler, which are corresponding to gymnosperm and angiosperm respectively. Scientific names are analyzed and stored coinciding with the plant nominating rules, aiming to reduce data superabundance and improve the capability of database. It uses ASP and VB.NET for developing network database and local application program. In virtue of network database, plants can be searched by scientific names, Chinese names, English names, processing methods and edible parts of edible plants, meanwhile, the database offers accurate search and blur search. As soon as clicking results list of search, details including name, characteristic description, pictures of plant resources and literature will be displayed. Local application program can be used without connecting to Internet, it behaves weaker compared with network application program. Local program can offer the search of plants according to their names and exhibit details of plant resources.It establishes the database of wild edible plant resources in Inner Mongolia for the first time, and provides a convenient assistant tool for the study of edible plant resources in Inner Mongolia.
