The laboratory mice has special value in biology research, becausehomozygouscharacters were in their genes. Thus they are easy to be used in the study of thegenetic traits and are often used as a model of the study of human biology and disease.99%of the studied mouse genes can be found in the human homologous sequences. Biochemicalindexes and its regulation mechanism of mice are similar to human beings. Currently, miceplay an important role in physiology and pathology study in face to genome research.Because of its unique genetic composition and its derivative of the series, chromosomesubstitution strain (CSS) are used to confirm the underlying quantity trait loci (QTLs).Since2008, our laboratory started to build the source of special chromosome substitution strainfrom wild mouse. We designed C57BL/6(B6) as receptors, and collected domestic wildmice of different areas as donor, with the replacement of the chromosome1. In specialchromosome substitution strain, chromosome1of each starainis different to others, wherethe rest of the chromosome are all from C57BL/6.To analyze the growth phenotype and blood biochemical parameters of Chromosome1Substitute Strain(CSS1)mice, and investigate their potential of QTL mapping. Body weight, body length, tail length, organ weight of the CCS1mice were measured at different days tocreate a growth cure while blood biochemical indexes were detected at about the80th day.The CCS1mice were different from C57BL/6mouse in several indexes. Compared withC57BL/6during different developmental stages, six strains including B6-Chr1KM weresignificantly different in body weight. There were five strains including B6-Chr1CM weresignificantly different with C57BL/6in body length and all of the CSS1mice were significantly different from C57BL/6mouse in tail length. Part of CCS1mice weresignificantly different from C57BL/6mouse in weight of heart, kidney and brain. The ALTof B6-Chr1CM female mice was significantly higher than C57BL/6. The ALP of B6-Chr1HZfemale mice was significantly higher than C57BL/6and B6-Chr1KM male mice wassignificantly lower than C57BL/6.The TB of B6-Chr1CM male mice, B6-Chr1SMX malemice and B6-Chr1HZ male mice was significantly higher than C57BL/6. The TG ofB6-Chr1SMX male mice was significantly higher than C57BL/6. The TC of B6-Chr1TWmale mice was significantly higher than C57BL/6. In addition, the B6-Chr1KM mice weresignificantly different from C57BL/6J mice in6indexes. Conclusions The phenotype ofChr1CSS mice are quite different from common used inbred strain C57BL/6. CCS1miceshows great potential in QTL mapping for their characteristic growth phenotype and bloodbiochemical indexes.
