The Design And Development Of Web 3D Digital Landscape Map

Cartography is a subject of science, ancient yet young. It is ancient because its existence is no later than the character. It is young because its lively development always accompanies with the development of science and technology and social needs. With the emergency and development of Virtual Reality (VR), Geographical Information System (GIS) and WEBGIS, the web 3D digital landscape map is composed of those technologies and it is the new era of Cartography.This thesis is composed of these research aspects as follow.1. The research of the design principles of the web 3D digital landscape map.The traditional map contains 3 principles, mathematical laws, map symbols and cartographic generalization. The key point to evaluate the success of a map is whether implementing principles above strictly during the period of design. In the web 3D digital landscape map, the applications of these principles are of different types.2. The research of data acquisition and management of web 3D digital landscape map.Data is the core of the web 3D digital landscape map. Map's production, display and analysis are all supported by data. In this thesis, texture data and attribute data are investigated. At last, these kinds of data are stored in the database.3. The research of modeling technologies of 3D city.The inclined projection 3D effect is the merit of web 3D digital landscape map compared to traditional map, dues to the modeling of urban entities. With the object-oriented spatial modeling methods, the 3D reconstruction of 3 layers of points, lines and polygons in urban area are established.4. WEBGIS releasing technologies based on raster map.The combination of WEBGIS and raster map provides a better solution to web 3D digital landscape map releasing. Based on .NET platform of Microsoft, map data of WEBGIS is transmitted and displayed by AJAX and ASP.NET. 5. Introduction of an application sample.In this thesis, Fengxian district of Shanghai web 3D digital landscape map is taken as an application sample. An accurate and practical web 3D digital landscape map system is produced. Some problems to be solved and the future work are put forward at the end of this thesis. These researches and experience are being looked forward to be useful to the following researchers and technicians.
