East Tianmu Moutains located on the west of Lin'an. The distance between Lin'an and this area is about 25 km. It belongs to the south of north subtropical climate region, in the north of southeast coastal hilly mountain area of China. So the characters of the climate are plain to hilly, mid-subtropic to north subtropic transitional form, with strong mosoon wind, four distinctive seasons, moderate climate, Plentiful rainwater and feasible illumination. 624 seed plants were collected, which include 65 cultivated or exotic plants. The flora of the seed plants composed of 559 species which belong to 360 genera and 112 families. They consist of 13 species of Gymnosperm (5 families and 10 genera), 459 species of Dicotyledon (96 families and 292 genera), and 87 species of Monocotyledon (11 families 58 genera). The characters of East Tianmu flora include: comparatively sparse in species, with only 1/3 species compared to West Tianmu Mt.; richness of families and genera appeared in ancient geological historical periods; diversity of areal-types, with 14 areal-types and 9 subtypes; characterized by temperate zone elements but with some tropic nature, lacking endemic element. The temperate elements include 208 genera, 57.8% of the total genera from the flora of East Tianmu Mt., 25.6% higher than the tropic element, The north temperate elements include 95 genera, 45.7% of the temperate element and 26.4% of the total genera from the flora of East Tianmu Mt. Many species of these genera are important species for the forest of East Tianmu Moutains. True tropic elment is not exist in this area, except some species extended to sub-tropic and temperate area. It has close relationship with the flora of east China. Life forms are mainly grass. The vegetations of East Tianmu Moutains were severely destroyed several times since 1950 to 1970, and have begun to recover. But compared to West Tianmu Moutains', the developmental state of East Tianmu vegetation is very poor. The main types of the vegetation in East Tianmu Mt. are shrub thickets, shrub grasslands, evergreen and deciduous broad-leaved mixed forests, deciduous broad-leaved forests, mountain meadows and plantations. Exotic plants of East Tianmu Mt. are not in high proportion, but have great influence on plant community to the flora.
