There are two type of GIS application program: desktop GIS and WebGIS. Desktop GIS has a fast operating rate and beautiful user interface and well-dynamic. WebGIS is a Web GIS based on browser/service architecture and established on Internet, which lets the users can visit various type of spatial information about different region through the browser over the Internet. The operating pattern is changed contrary to the traditional one, also provide the service can not be implemented in the Desktop one.Traditional WebGIS is in the synchronous interaction mode. In this case, users first send a demand to the Web Service, which will carry the corresponding task when the demand arrived and then send the result to the demanding users. While the Service is processing the demand, user's time is mostly wasted on waiting: the response of Service, the refresh of monitor, the return of demand and the generation of new web pages. Users have to face a blank monitor for a long time, what's the worse they were told by the Service that page is unavailable after the response time.Ajax(Asynchronous JavaScript and XML)is a newly method used to develop WebGIS, which adopts asynchronous interaction mode that induct a intermediate media to user and Service and eliminate the process-wait-process-wait fault during the web interaction. Web pages will dynamic refresh rather than interrupt the interaction with the purpose to refresh the pages. Using Ajax can create more abundant and dynamic user interface for WebGIS application program whose immediate performance and usability are paralleled to the desktop one.The research aim of this paper is to apply the Ajax technology to a WebGIS system which is a market information navigation system in my paper. My research is based on the Ajax and WebGIS and takes the informatization of Wuhan Duoluokou Market as research background which information system' database is built on the requirement to the reality of the information navigator system with date processing and database design. The system, according to the approach and method of the software engineering on geography information system, is under scientific system analysis and design combining with Duoluokou Market Information System's self-characteristic and is based on Ajax. Ruby on Rails framework will be applied to manage the date information. Such framework provide several ways to record data information and organize them in an efficient way and to do management, update, maintenance on them; Date information are visible that means the framework provide some operating function on map such as maximum, minimum and brose, user can use the button above the map to imply those function; Information query and brose, a corresponding entity will be offered according to the input terms and its location in the map.The system is basically achieved the requirement of informatization construction of Wuhan Duoluokou Market which can be consider as a digital and informational virtual market combining with automatic office system, door guard system and portal website. Besides these, it can promote the working quality, efficiency and service level of market manage department and offer a better service for the client in and out the market. Overall, it has a certain implicate values.
