As the rapid advancement of Informatization has brought the development of the whole information age, the fast progress of informatization in battlefield has been influencing the variation of the situation in the whole battlefield. The modern war is joint operations among all arms of services under the high tech, which asks for special supports and service of geographic information. Besides of uniform spatial reference and positioning datum, modern war must unite all the geographic spatial information needed by all arms of services to a organic integer scientific and reasonably. To satisfy the present need of joint operations, the original military communication map database with the scale 1:500000, is in dire need of updating and partly rebuilding, helping the campaign and command for the army.The joint operations map production system of scale 1: 500000 was put forward under such background and requirement, which aims at producing map production with high quality also updating and partly rebuilding the map database. Considering the characteristics of the joint operations map database of scale 1: 500000, this system makes use of all the information and contacts of 1:250000 joint operation map, also supply the collected verisimilitude data and navigate information to map database according to the format of vector digital map.In this paper, under the lead of the mode of integration of map making and spatial data production, the analysis of demand and feasibility are finished, and the production frame of the system is structured, additionally, the production flow is introduced in detail, In this paper, focusing on the data generalization, interrelated selected principle and index are introduced, and a universal module is designed in need of integration. In addition, the design and realization of all modules during the production of spatial information and the process of publish, is introduced detailedly, including design and integration for system environment, map symbolization, map elements extraction, spatial data checking, and map appearance and element relation disposal, etc.
