A Study On Land Use Change Of One City In Jiangsu With The Aid Of Present-day Remote Sensing & GIS Technology

The land is the basis of economic activities for human beings;the land use is the mode and intensity as to produce materials;and the dynamic changes of the land use is the reflection of trend in the land use mode. The dynamic changes are distinguished from the change quantity,structure,degree. It is important to have a general and objective viewpoint to the dynamic changes to understand the present rational and irrational land use mode in order to provide reference to the long-term and sustainable land administration.The Remote Sensing(RS) method provide abundant information, and Geographical Information System(GIS) has powerful functions in data processing and spatial analysis. The combination of RS and GIS, which is characterized by little labor,high efficiency and low expense, has inestimable advantages compared with the tradional methods, and is highly practical in monitoring dynamic changes of the land use. With the aid of present-day Remote Sensing & GIS technology, this paper analyzes the spatial-temporal changes of land use in one city of Jiangsu province from 1996 to 2004, then points out the dynamic change law of land use. By using qualitative and quantitative method, this study analyzes the land use change driving force on nature, social and economy aspects. Finally time series method is used to predict the change trend of land use in future. The results of this research are as follows:1. The city of Jiangsu province has various land types, at the same time, the regional differences of land use is evident. In recent 10 yesrs, the area of cultivation,unused has been decreased and the construction area has been increased, among the construction the trffic land has been increased farthest.2. Land use change results from the factors of nature,society and economy. Among these factors, society and economy are the key driving factors of land use change in the city of Jiangsu province, including urbanization, industrialization, comparative economic benefit, economic development, population pressure.3. The trend prediction of land use change shows that: the cultivated land still show a tendency to reduce in 15 years, but the speed to reduce is slow and keeps steady. Construction land will increase slowly, among which rural settlements, industrial and mining land will increase farther, water conservancy projects land will descend a bit lowly.
