Initial Exploration Of Mongolian Gerbil's Physiology And Behavior

The Mongolian Gerbils belong to Rodentia , Hamster , Gerbillinae , Meriones. They have been serving as laboratory animal since the beginning of the 1960s. And they are widely used in the study of neurology , metabolic disease , contagious disease and tumor , etc. Three big closed populations of the Mongolian Gerbils are distributed in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Because of the lack of the primary experimental data, the Biology background informations of the Mongolian Gerbils are not enough. And there are no government standard of the Mongolian Gerbils.Observing Mongolian gerbil's reproducing performance for supplying the indexes of biology and guidance in development and use of animal laboratory. 20 indexes of hematological and biochemical parameters in 20 mongolian gerbils were mensurated and compared with different sexes. To study ethology in Mongolian gerbils from clean facility. 20 gerbils in breaking away from lactation were selected(female gerbils were 10,male gerbils were 10),and one male and one female cohabited for a long period of time.
