Traditional knowledge and experiences on use of wild plants as well as folk nomenclature by the Mongolians in low mountain and hilly area of HureBanner were studied based on the resuts of analysis of local flora. There are 231 species of wild plants belong to 149 genera of 49 families distributed in this area. Among them, the dominant families are Gramineae, Compositae, Leguminosae and Rosaceae. The genera of seed plant are classified as 14 areal types. The type of north temperate distribution is the most dominant areal type.Plant folk names of the Mongolians in low mountain and hilly aarea in Hure Banner have own structure, types and methods on nomenclature. More than 143 folk names are correspomding to 140 wild plant species. There is a markable interrelationship between the result of folk nomenclature and plant taxonomy. Plant folk names still used by the local Mongolians, have practical and existence values.Traditional used wild plants by the Mongolians in low mountain and hilly area of Hure Banner can be classified as food use, beverage use, medicinal use, constraction use, craft use, fuel use and forage use.The wild plants used as food and beverage including 27 species of vegetables, 10 species of edible fruits, six species of condiment, and four species of tea substitutes. Among them, the edible parts of Cynanchum thesioides and Spiraea pubescens contain various kinds of nutritions.There are 41 species of wild species used as medicine. The knowledge of medicinal use expressd a character of a handy, easy to collection and emergency use in the selection of parts used and treatment.
