As GIS progressing from 2D GIS to 3D GIS, 3D information visualization has become an important aspect to be researched. Meanwhile, as the main body of information existing and spreading, the city is obviously one of the main objects that 3D GIS tries to represent. Particularly, it is the current research focus of 3D GIS to create urban 3D landscape by integrating the technology of Virtual Geographic Environment (VGE).In the beginning, some problems about modeling and visualization of urban 3D landscape are studied. Then some aspects of interactive dynamic browse of urban 3D landscape based on VRML are discussed and realized. The main researches are as follows:First, this thesis reviews the development and application of 3D visualization technology. Especially, it has conducted full research into 3D modeling theory and technology of urban landscape. Combining with IMAGIS, a 3D visualization system, the thesis has carried out down-to-earth study and practice on data acquisition, data pretreatment, geometric modeling, texture mapping and the match of terrain and man-made landscape in the process of urban 3D landscape creation.Second, the thesis introduces VR technology into urban 3D landscape in virtue of VRML, which makes the browse of 3D landscape with more reality. At the same time, the author has fulfilled relevant node design of the experimental scene, based on a deeply study of the fundamental of VRML, event-driven mechanism and correlated nodes properties. At last, with the help of the powerful function of Java, Java Script Authoring Interface (JSAI) and External Authoring Interface (EAI) provided by VRML, the thesis realizes the interactive dynamic browse of 3D landscape via Internet.
