Research And Application Of Statistical Information System Based GIS

In the past years, statistical departments always use the traditional numerical analysis methods. But with the economic development turning round to city economy, local economy, developed-region economy, group economy and so on, it is vital to analyze the data with the spatial attitude. So, if statistical departments still stick to the traditional measures, they can not supply the need of the local government for the decision-making. To resolve the problem, the departments need use the two dimensional even the three dimensional data. GIS (Geographical Informational Science) contains the advanced practicable and spatial characteristics. By connected with MIS (Management Information System), the technology of GIS is able to show the statistical results in the map way and make the results visualization with spatial meaning.This article is basing on the project "Guangzhou Foreign Trade & Economic Cooperation Analysis System Based on GIS" . By using the foreign trade and economic cooperation data of Guangzhou of the near five years, we integrate GIS with DBMS based on the principles of system engineering and software engineering and create a foreign trade and economic cooperation analysis system for Guangzhou. It can offer the geographical visualization of economic data and grasp the trend of foreign trade and economic cooperation. It also gives us a tool to evaluate the current situation of foreign trade and economic cooperation of Guangzhou and provide the decision support for the economic development of Guangzhou.
