| Abstract: Regional encyclopedia is a book taking regions in different size as recordobjects. It is also a book taking administrative regions as space. Taking "Encyclopedia of Hebei geography part" as a case, based on recognizing the concept, historical evolution & nature of the regional encyclopedia and the practice of compilation work, he systematic research was conducted on basic theory, frame work article, summary and explanation how to better embody in the regional encyclopedia.The paper was divided into 6 parts. The first part is the concept, historical evolution & classification of the regional encyclopedia and introduced the concept of regional encyclopedia. And the historical evolution and current situations both in China and in the world were elaborated. The second part is a penetration to the basic nature of regional encyclopedia and a revelation to the characteristics & functions of regional encyclopedia. The third part is a design of frame work article of "Encyclopedia of Hebei province-geography part". The author provided us with the regional geographic knowledge of Hebei, analyzed the types of frame work article from different angles and put forward the principles of frame work article. The fourth part is compilation to the summary of "Encyclopedia of Hebei province-geography part". In this part, the geographic comprehensive characteristics of Hebei were showed precisely. There were 4 aspects, natural geographic spatial characteristics, the spatial distribution of economic development, the spatial distribution of urban rank-system and the complex evolution process of administrative derision of district. The fifth part is the compilation to the explanation of the "Encyclopedia of Hebei province-geography part".
