A Study On The Francois' Leaf Monkey In The Mayanghe Natural Reserve,Yanhe County,Guizhou.

By using the focal sampling, the 5648 field observed notes of 193 hours during 47 days from 1999 to 2000 was gotten from behaviors of two Francois' leaf monkey (Semnopithecus francoisi) groups (7 individuals and 9 individuals respectively) at both core and buffer area of the Mayanghe provincial Natural Reserve, Yanhe County, Guizhou Province. By analyzing and comparing the behavioral time of the monkeys that was in the same habitat in different seasons, different habitats in the same seasons and all the year in different habitats respectively, we obtained as follows as:1. The primary influencing factor that makes the monkey change its seasonal behavior in better habitat is natural food and surrounding temperature. Their rule of seasonal behavioral change is clearer than those who live in worse habitat. Primary influencing factors are crops and actions by human, which change seasonal behavior of the monkey who lives in worse habitat.2. It is both of the quality of the habitat and actions by human, as the primary influencing factor that changed the behavior of the monkey in spring. In summer, the primary influencing factor that changed the behavior of the monkey is both of the species of food and disturbance of human activities. The change of behavior of the monkey who lives in worse habitat is much drastically than the one who lives in better habitat in autumn, and the primary influencing factor is both of the habitat quality and human activities. It is both of the food species and habitat quality that influenced the monkey behaviors in different habitat in winter. In the different habitats, the behavior varied distinctly between the two observed objectives in each season, which the main influencing factors of the monkey behaviors changed with the change of season.3. The primary behavior and secondarily behavior of monkey living in the Wanjia can be identified more clearly than that who lives in the Xiangguba. The extent of the behavioral change of the Francois' leaf monkey who lives in worse habitat is much wider than the one who lives in better habitat. In better habitat, it is natural factor, such as surrounding temperature and energy of food, to change the whole day's behavior of the Francois' leaf monkey as the primary influencing factor. But in worse habitat, it is the human factor, including crops cultivating or harvesting and human disturbance activities, to change the whole day's behavior of the Francois' leaf monkey as the primary influencing factor.4. The primary behavior of the francois' leaf monkey living in the habitat always presents at duration of afternoon; on the contrary, it always presents at duration of morning when the Francois' leaf monkeys live in worse habitat.
