Forest resources are renewable resources, they are the material basis of forestry production, provide important resources for social and economic development.How to reasonablely manage information on forest resources, in order to play the greatest degree benefit of ecological, economic, social and accelerate the development of forestry, has become an urgent problem to forestry sector.Although the forestry sector has accumulated years of technical information, the existing manual management mode and management tools have become increasingly unable to meet the needs of management on forest resource information.In order to more rational manage forest resources information, improve forest production, operation and management efficiency, the use of advanced computer and database technology to implement the information management of forest resources has become a imperative problem to be solved, also it is necessary to establish forest resource management system.This paper uses the GuanDiShan mountain forestry survey data of FenHe river eco environgeological remote sensing interpretation and survey project as the data source.Firstly, I do the overall design of the system with system requirements analysis and data characteristics of the system, and make the technology roadmap,determine to use the ArcGIS Engine components as a platform for system development, ArcSDE and SQL Sever as a tool for data storage, VB as a second development environment; Then I give a more detailed description of the basic theories and key technologies used in the system, including component GIS, background database SQL Sever, spatial data engine technology ArcSDE and ArcGIS Engine technology used in secondary development etc. During the system development, firstly I determine the structure of the system's spatial data and attribute data, which massive data are classified storing on spatial data engine ArcSDE and SQLSever, maps are Reasonablely and hierarchicaly managed, So I establish a more comprehensive spatial data and attribute data associated with the GIS database. Finally develop forest management system in fenhe basin of Guandishan region, using the function of completely spatial data processing and analysis provided in ArcGIS Engnie component and visualization tools VB.The System consists of data management, basic operation of the map, information inquiry, statistical analysis, spatial analysis and system management module. While the data management modules include data import, data update and data modification, etc;The statistical analysis module consists of numerical statistics,charts statistics, numerical statistics can easily get the maximum, minimum, sum of the statistical data; The information query and tne spatial analysis module are in the form of an interactive queries at graphical and attribute, overlay analysis and buffer analysis, to realized information query, analysis and other functions of forest resource. The construction and application of the system facilitate the forestry sector to manage forests data, Can save a lot of manpower and material resources, lay the foundation for forestry Digital, while provide technical suppor for the dynamic management and sustainable development of forest resources, Will make the forest resources from the inventory, monitoring to data processing as well as the sustainable development of forest resources to develop a reasonable plan to become fast, accurate and scientific.
