Supply Chain Risk Management In Logistics Companies Of Pakistan | | Posted on:2023-06-28 | Degree:Doctor | Type:Dissertation | | Institution:University | Candidate:Fahim ul Amin | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:1529307028959519 | Subject:Logistics Engineering and Management | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | Supply Chain Risk Management(SCRM)is defined as the strategic and operational management of supply-chain risks.These risks can disrupt or even block the effective and efficient flow of information,raw materials,and products from the supplier to the company’s client in whole or in part.The literature study has revealed that a significant amount of research has been carried out in SCRM.However,there is a little research that has addressed the SCRM in Pakistani organizations and there is no research available related to the SCRM in logistics and transportation companies of Pakistan.The logistics sector of Pakistan has considerable significance in the country’s economy,and it contributes to 10% of GDP and around 18% of the gross capital.Moreover,the sector is expected to have substantial growth in the coming years as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor(CPEC)is expanding.Therefore,this domain needs to be explored to cope the future challenges.The thesis aimed to analyze and evaluate the various dimensions of SCRM i.e.Risk Prioritization,effect of integration of sustainable practice in SCRM and Organizational Performance.Since,SCRM is the strategic management for identifying and managing risks to reduce supply chain’s vulnerability.So development of a framework is inevitable in which risk identification and evaluation are key steps.The literature study has shown that there is a need to evaluate supply chain risks for the logistics sector of Pakistan specially intend to operate in CPEC.Therefore,this research has addressed this issue and has identified and evaluated risk prioritization.Similarly,it is inevitable to determine what impact both operational and strategic risk management practices can have on supply chain performance as performance is the key measure for sustainability of the supply chain risk management in supply networks and organizations.Therefore,the proposed research has also filled this gap and has determined the effect of integration of sustainable SCRM on organizational performance.Finally,there is lack of studies on customer relationship in context of SCRM performance specifically for Pakistani logistics companies.Customers play critical role in sustainability of any business especially for logistics companies where the business is customer oriented.Thus,this research has also addressed this issue and eventually has added the new dimension in SCRM literature regarding to the logistics sector of Pakistan.There are multiple research findings and implications of the proposed research.The research findings show that the most critical risks to consider are organizational risks,whereas environmental risks are thought to have the least influence on supply chain disruption.The research also shows that only a subset of supply chain sustainability metrics has a significant beneficial impact on the performance of logistics and transportation firms.The research has suggested that to incorporate sustainability in the SCRM,organizations should focus on workforce,rational use of resources,shareholder rights and society.These practices have loads of positive effects on the profitability,and operational efficiency of the companies under study.The study also revealed that strategic risk management has an impact on organizational performance,whereas a positive association exists between strategic risk management and supply chain performance,both directly and indirectly.The research has also implications.The findings of this research offer inspiration for future research that can verify findings on large sample of companies or Chinese companies operating in CPEC.Organizations may use the set of research methodologies provided in this study to ascertain significant risks in their logistics operations,the current state of their risk management processes,and future directions for risk assessment and better organizational performance... | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Supply chain risk management, Risk evaluation and prioritization, Fuzzy VIKOR-CRITIC, Organization performance, Customer relationship, Logistics companies of Pakistan | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
