During the construction of China’s “One Belt One Road” initiative in Southeast Asia,Vietnam is an important country for interconnection between China and ASEAN,and it plays an important role in it.The “Belt and Road” initiative is related to Vietnam as the pillar of the“21st Century Maritime Silk Road” concept. The Maritime Silk Road refers to a trade route that started in Quanzhou City,Fujian Province,China, runs through Southeast Asia and connects Europe.Vietnam is an indispensable part of Southeast Asia, with many important maritime transportation and safety joints.Since China has actively promoted the “Belt and Road” initiative, the comprehensive cooperative relations between China and Vietnam have deepened, with more profound effects on their political and economic cooperation relationship. The connotations proposed in the“Belt and Road” initiative include cooperation, development, consultation, sharing, peace, and win-win concepts that have many similarities with the future development needs of Vietnam. In the future, under the impetus of the “Belt and Road” initiative, the China-Vietnam cooperation will see new progress, especially in economic cooperation.I think that in-depth research on this issue is of great significance and requires serious research efforts and exploration. In the “Research on Vietnam – China economic cooperation under the framework of the‘Belt and Road’ initiative” article, the author establishes the theoretical basis of the international political economy(IPE).Specifically,it includes related theories of international cooperation, international trade and international investment. It also introduces the hypothesis of the “Belt and Road” initiative as a new model of international cooperation and provides several supporting theories for the problems raised in the research. The core content of this paper mainly focuses on the analysis of the eighth anniversary of the “Belt and Road” initiative in ASEAN countries, with a specific focus on Vietnam, and the subsequent transformation of the Sino-Vietnamese economic cooperation relationship. This paper also focuses on clarifying the specific development of the “Belt and Road” initiative in various fields in Vietnam and the opportunities and challenges that the “Belt and Road”initiative has brought to the China-Vietnam economic cooperation. The implementation of various specific economic cooperation projects in Vietnam and other issues are discussed in detail.Through two representative case studies, the author clarifies the role of China’s “Belt and Road” initiative in the China-Vietnam economic cooperation stage and testes the effectiveness of the “Belt and Road” initiative as a new model of international cooperation. Finally,it is shown that Vietnam is of great relevance for China’s “Belt and Road” initiative. Moreover, why Vietnam should actively participate in the implementation of the “Belt and Road” initiative and why it should try to put forward policy suggestions on the prospects for the development of the two countries is illustrated.
